Phlebas the Phoenician, limp,
Numbed and nibbled
By currents and sands
Of silence and of strength,
Slipped from the gleam,
Slipped from the paling teeth,
And, bleary, balmy,
Dreamed of a Harmony
Far in the distance,
But sweet and silent
Approaching.
